This class is subject to my general grading policies, which are available here. Nevertheless, with each class, there are particularities that require class-specific grading policies. This represents those policies for this course. All policies are subject to revision as necessary.
Your grade will be calculated as follows (subject to some revision):
- Final Exam – 70-80 points
- Class Participation – 10-20 points
- Writing Assignments and Blog Comments – 10-20 points.
If you are looking at the grade distribution for last fall and thinking that this is an easy course, you may wish to take another class. That class was small enough that the curve did not apply. This class is going to be graded on the curve and there is going to be a lot of reading.
I don’t write the rules, I just follow them.
This is a hard class, and due to the curve, 50% of the class will receive a C or lower. Yes, I have given D grades, and will in the future.
